About Mr. MAC
Aka John Carter,

‍How it started…
‍Long before there was a” Mr. MAC there was an up-and-coming manager who had spent 25-30 years in an entirely different industry managing the customer service of 35,000 customers for two of the largest corporations in the world—Nestle’ and Smithfield. Then on day I was introduced to the career of insurance adjusting.

‍Myth vs. Fact on Adjuster role
‍I like many of you, was told that this independent Adjuster profession offered freedom and great pay, so I took the leap and became a licensed Adjuster. I would soon experience firsthand the difficulty entering the adjuster industry with no experience. I was able to secure my first position as a CMS, which didn’t require an Adjuster license, but it opened the doorway for me to enter the field of adjusting.Once I landed my first claims examiner position (adjuster license required), It was overwhelming at first, as I had no idea as to what I was doing. What made the difference was the training and support I received from the IA firm and seasoned adjusters. After nearly a decade of working as an independent property adjuster, I am glad I took the leap! It has allowed me to live life on my terms.

‍Why Mr. MAC was created…
‍My Adjuster Coach aka “Mr. MAC” was created out of my desire to offer new adjusters the support and training needed to enter the adjuster industry with a solid foundation for getting started. The Mr. MAC Academy will provide you with training that is parallel to the real experience and equip you with tools to assist you in becoming a confident adjuster. You will also have access to our community of seasoned adjusters where you can network and get the support you need to become a successful adjuster. I, just like you, was told that this Independent Adjuster position offered freedom and great pay. I signed up for the class and took off work with some friends that were also told about the business. The management position would soon come to an end and that positioned me to get started. After getting signed up with some of the different independent adjusting firms, one particular firm deployed me for a customer service contract position and that was the beginning of my adjusting career. I know some of you are asking, “but you are a licensed adjuster! Why would you take that lesser paying position?” Like many new adjusters today, I needed to get started, I didn’t have the experience that most IA firms were requiring, I didn’t want to work as staff adjuster, so I took the opportunity to enter the door to independent adjusting that was being open for me. It required me to leave my family to go out of town for the training at my own expense, but I was willing to take the chance and it turned out to be a great decision. I received excellent training and paid my expenses out of the assignment. The opportunity also allowed me to have access to one of the largest insurance carrier’s computer system trainings. I was soon transferred to a desk adjuster or claims examiner position and wow, it was overwhelming at first, as I had no idea as to what I was doing, so my anxiety was at an all-time high. What made the difference was the training and support I received from the IA firm and seasoned adjusters. The assignment lasted 9-10 months. On the next deployment assignment, the independent adjusting firm deployed me to work a fast path adjuster position that catapulted my career and raised my adjuster experience to the next level, and I have never looked back. Over the almost decade as an independent adjuster, I have worked property, supplements, auto, commercial, field, eagle view and have become an expert in Xactimate. As I look back over my years of adjusting, I understand the anxiety, fear and uncertainty of getting started in this career. It was hands down the initial training and support I received that contributed to my success as an independent adjuster. In a desire to offer new adjusters the support and a solid foundation for getting started as an independent adjuster, My Adjuster Coach aka “Mr. MAC was born. The Mr. MAC Academy was designed to give you a head start in becoming an independent desk adjuster with the support you will need from seasoned adjusters, which is so often the missing piece of getting started in the world of adjusting.
